TRADE DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

What is the TDP
The Trade Development Project (TDP), is a four-year technical assistance project jointly financed by the European Union under the 8th European Development Fund, (EDF) and a contribution from the Government of Jamaica. The implementing agency is Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO). The project was officially launched in January 2000. Project budget is EURO 6m with a contribution from the Government of Jamaica of EURO 0.8m.

Objective of the TDP

The overall objective of the TDP is to create sustainable trade and production growth through enhanced international competitiveness of Jamaican private sector companies.

Project Purpose

1. To increase the international competitiveness of private sector exporters.
2. To develop export and tourism related services.

Business and export development assistance in the area of :
• Diagnostics and business plans
• Accounting & financial management
• Production and Quality systems
• Product Development
• Marketing and Promotion
• Human resource development
• Institutional and capacity building for local Service Providers and Associations.
